Honor Families of Our Fallen Heroes:

The Gold Star Luminary Initiative Presents Gold Star Luminary Event

For nearly a decade, thousands of luminaries have been lit on the last Sunday in September. In 2007, the founder and staff at Marine Parents realized that although there has been a presidential proclamation since 1936 to honor Gold Star Mothers, there was no nationwide call for action to show support and remembrance of the sons and daughters of Gold Star Mothers. As such, it was decided that we would ask people to light luminaries on the last Sunday in September in honor of Gold Star families. The response and feedback was tremendous.

In the 13 years since the first Luminary Initiative lightings in 2007, the Luminary Initiative has taken hold with individuals, groups, and organizations lighting luminaries to honor Gold Star Family members around the United States; whether a few luminaries on a front lawn or hundreds in a community event, the impact is profound: the country shares in their loss on this day as we strive to keep the memories of their loved ones alive.

This year, we invite you to join Gold Star Families and supporters on Sunday, September 27 to observe Gold Star Family Day with a ceremony at Windmill Plaza, located at 118 W Main St in Little Chute, WI at 6PM.

Little Chute American Legion Post #258 and Blue Star Mothers, Wisconsin Chapter 1, invite you to join us on Gold Star Family Day to light luminaries at dusk in remembrance of our area’s fallen heroes. The event will begin at 6PM at the Little Chute Windmill on Sunday, September 26, 2021 as part of the National Luminary Initiative. We will be remembering all military members who have passed while in service or from service related injuries.

Please help spread the word and light a luminary in honor of Gold Star families on the last Sunday in September.
